    Bonjour Laurent,

Extending agile culture beyond IT is mandatory to ensure the success of agile methodologies. Indeed, development teams rely heavily on their inputs and all the benefits brought by agile methodologies are lost if their surroundings don’t share the same values and rhythm.

In “traditional” project management, communication between stakeholders (in particular from Business) and a development team is usually difficult because these are two different worlds. Scrum tackles this issue by creating a bridge, an interface between those worlds: the Product Owner, who works with the development team (usually in the same place, part time of full time). She represents all the stakeholders interested in the product (Business, Strategy, Management, Sales…) so she can define and prioritize user stories accordingly.

A Scrum project consists in a team of people working together to provide value to stakeholders through the delivery of user stories, following a goal: a vision that is built and defended by the Product Owner and shared by all the team members. The work of the Product Owner, just like any other team member, is not represented as stories (which are the project outcome) but as tasks, so the Product Owner may create his own tasks in the iceScrum sprint plan.

Depending on how pure Business people work, it may be relevant to manage their work with Scrum and create an iceScrum project for that but I would not make it a priority. What I think is the most important is rather to ensure that they understand and share the agile values and work together with the Product Owners to ensure that they have enough information at a sufficient rate to feed the development teams.

    Bonjour,

Changing the context manually breaks the conventions enforced in the iceScrum Server configuration so unfortunately this change will not work.

If you want to keep using iceScrum Server, I recommend that you revert your changes (both config.groovy and server.xml) and restart iceScrum Server. If iceScrum doesn’t start properly then check the content of C:UsersyourUserNameAppDataLocalKagilumiceScrum Servertomcatwebapps and if there are other files than icescrum.war and other folders than icescrum then you can remove them.

The only URL customization that will work in iceScrum Server is changing the application name from icescrum to another, e.g. scrum. To do so, you will only have to change the URL in iceScrum Server, (e.g. http://:8080/scrum) and the application takes care of changing the appropriate settings. Don’t change it manually in the config.groovy file.

The point of iceScrum Server is to allow using iceScrum without needing to install everything manually. This can be useful to evaluate iceScrum if you don’t have the time or the knowledge required to set up a proper Tomcat environment. However for actual enterprise / production needs, custom settings are required rather than enforced ones. In this case, as indicated in the documentation: https://www.icescrum.com/documentation/icescrum-server/#advanced-usage_1, a custom Tomcat installation will do a far better job than iceScrum Server.

Finally, please note that even in a regular Tomcat install, adding the Context like you did is not sufficient. Indeed, if the docBase refers to a .war in the Host appBase then you need to set autoDeploy=”false” deployOnStartup=”false” on the Host to prevent double deployment, as indicated in the Tomcat documentation.

    Hello,

To change the iceScrum URL, you must update the configuration in two places:
    – iceScrum config.groovy: update (or define) the grails.serverUrl setting
    – Tomcat configuration

In think there are several ways to configure Tomcat to do what you want. You can do so in server.xml. Please note that this require a basic understanding of how tomcat works (I recommend reading the official documentation https://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/config/context.html).

Here is an example of Host config in server.xml to use http://localhost:8080/foobar/icescrum:

    unpackWARs="true" autoDeploy="false" deployOnStartup="false">

    ...

If you want to achieve more complicated things then you will have to dive into the Tomcat configuration or use a reverse proxy.

    Hello,

Unfortunately Tomcat 8 support isn’t available yet, as indicated in our install guide (https://www.icescrum.com/documentation/install-guide/#software-requirements_3).

You can try Tomcat 7 and see if the problem still occurs.

    Bonjour,

    https://www.icescrum.com/blog/acceptance-test-states/

in reply to: Stockage des fichiers joints aux stories #10894

    Nicolas Noullet

    Bonjour,

    Hi,

    There are several options:
    – You can download iceScrum Pro and generate an evaluation license that offers 14 days of free evaluation. iceScrum Pro has an administration feature that allows to change user credentials and account information (https://www.icescrum.com/documentation/icescrum-pro/administration/#administration-users). iceScrum Pro is a superset of iceScrum Community and when the license expires, you get only the Community features just like if you use a regular iceScrum Community version.
    – You can update the email address in the database by using an external DB client compatible with your DBMS. Such manual updates should be avoided as much as possible because if they are not made carefully they can lead to irreversible inconsistencies in iceScrum data.
    – I agree that restoring the old email address would be overkill. However, sometimes server administrators set up a default inbox for emails that are sent to unrecognized email adresses on the company domains. You may ask your administrator if it is the case.
    – The last option consists in creating a new user account, but you will not be able to re-assign done items (tasks, activities) to this account. Only ongoing and new items / events can be associated to the new user account.

    Hi

That’s the first time I see this error.

Could you provide your config.groovy (with obfuscated passwords)?

What version of Tomcat and Java do you use?
