Roadmap (R6) – iceScrum

Obsolete iceScrum documention (R6#14+) This documentation applies only to old iceScrum R6. For new iceScrum v7, click here.

Sometimes, the fine granularity of stories is not the best suited for planning your project, specially in the inception phase. iceScrum Pro offers a new feature to tackle this issue: the Roadmap view. This view allows to define a high-level roadmap of your product by planning features into releases.

Overview

The Roadmap is very similar to the Release plan. The main difference is that you plan features instead of stories. The Roadmap is part of the product vision, that’s why only the Product Owner can update it.

Open the feature widget (drag ‘n drop the “feature” menu in the widget column or navigate from the feature view) to plan features. Drag ‘n drop a feature to plan it into a release. You can move a feature from one release to another by drag ‘n drop.

Note that the feature will still be available in the widget after being planned. Additionally, you can’t order features in a release: they are ordered according to their value (displayed on the post-its).

A feature can be dissociated from its drop-down menu.

You can also associate the feature to a release in the feature form when creating or updating it.

Note: The Roadmap provides additional information that doesn’t interfere with the existing story workflow in the release plan.
